I handle civil trial work and litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases and controversies.
Some call trial advocacy an art; others call it a science. Both are correct. Litigating a case involves hard work, preparation, determination, commitment, dedication to the cause and the ability to tell your story to a judge or a jury. It also involves creativity, innovation, style and flair. But, that is only the half of it. You, as the client, are an integral part of trial advocacy. After all, it is your case.
In trial work and litigation (as well as all other aspects of my practice) my client is my partner. I work closely with you throughout the process: I keep you updated on all developments in your case; I provide timely and direct answers to your questions and I make sure that neither you nor I lose sight of the goals we have set. I make sure that you are prepared and comfortable with all aspects of the litigation requiring your direct participation and testimony. I make sure you are prepared for your deposition; I make sure you are prepared to tell your story to a judge or a jury in a way that can be understood and in a way that will be appealing, persuasive and compelling. In short, after your complaint or answer gets filed in court, you’ll be spending as much time with me as is necessary to maximize our probability of success.
The fees I charge for legal work depends on the type of case. I typically charge a contingent fee for plaintiff cases involving personal injury and employment discrimination. I typically charge hourly fees (with or without a retainer) for defendant cases involving employment discrimination, business disputes and other commercial litigation. In any event, I will tell you up front what I will charge to take your case and to represent you and I back it up in writing.
Here is a list of the types of trial work and litigation I handle in both state and federal courts:
- Employment litigation
- Personal injury cases
- Business disputes and commercial litigation
- Non competition/ theft of trade secrets litigation
- Fraud claims
- Disputes between shareholders in small businesses
I also represent clients in litigation in other forums, such as AAA binding arbitration, FINRA arbitration (stock broker fraud cases) and various state agencies and licensing boards.
